November 1: Trick Or Treat?

It's November 1...November 1 is the 305th day of the year (306th in leap years) in the Gregorian calendar. There are 60 days remaining until the end of the year.

All Saint's Day

Ecclesiasticus 44:1-10,13-14

Let us now sing the praises of famous men,
our ancestors in their generations.
The Lord apportioned to them great glory,
his majesty from the beginning.
There were those who ruled in their kingdoms,
and made a name for themselves by their valor;
those who gave counsel because they were intelligent;
those who spoke in prophetic oracles;
those who led the people by their counsels
and by their knowledge of the people's lore;
they were wise in their words of instruction;
those who composed musical tunes,
or put verses in writing;
rich men endowed with resources,
living peacefully in their homes--
all these were honored in their generations,
and were the pride of their times.
Some of them have left behind a name,
so that others declare their praise.
But of others there is no memory;
they have perished as though they had never existed;
they have become as though they had never been born,
they and their children after them.
But these also were godly men,
whose righteous deeds have not been forgotten;
Their offspring will continue forever,
and their glory will never be blotted out.
Their bodies are buried in peace,
but their name lives on generation after generation.

Psalm 149 Page 807, BCP
Cantate Domino
1
Hallelujah!Sing to the LORD a new song; *sing his praise in the congregation of the faithful.
2
Let Israel rejoice in his Maker; *let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.
3
Let them praise his Name in the dance; *let them sing praise to him with timbrel and harp.
4
For the LORD takes pleasure in his people *and adorns the poor with victory.
5
Let the faithful rejoice in triumph; *let them be joyful on their beds.
6
Let the praises of God be in their throat *and a two-edged sword in their hand;
7
To wreak vengeance on the nations *and punishment on the peoples;
8
To bind their kings in chains *and their nobles with links of iron;
9
To inflict on them the judgment decreed; *this is glory for all his faithful people.Hallelujah!

Revelation 7:2-4,9-17
I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, having the seal of the living God, and he called with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to damage earth and sea,saying, "Do not damage the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have marked the servants of our God with a seal on their foreheads."
And I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred forty-four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of the people of Israel.
After this I looked, and there was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, robed in white, with palm branches in their hands. They cried out in a loud voice, saying,
"Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!" And all the angels stood around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,singing,
"Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.
"Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, "Who are these, robed in white, and where have they come from? "I said to him, "Sir, you are the one that knows. " Then he said to me, "These are they who have come out of the great ordeal; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
For this reason they are before the throne of God, and worship him day and night within his temple, and the one who is seated on the throne will shelter them. They will hunger no more, and thirst no more; the sun will not strike them, nor any scorching heat; for the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of the water of life, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

Matthew 5:1-12
When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and after he sat down, his disciples came to him. Then he began to speak, and taught them, saying:
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
"Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
"Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
"Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

23rd Psalm For Students

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not flunk
He keepeth me from lying down when I should be studying
He leadeth me beside the water cooler for a study break
He restores my faith in study guides
He leads me to better study habits
For my grade's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of borderline grades
I will not have a nervous breakdown
For thou art with me
My prayers and my friends, they comfort me.

Thou givest me the answer in the moment of blankness
Thou anointest my head with understanding
My test paper runneth over with questions I recognized.

Surely passing grades and flying colors shall follow me
All the days of my examination
And I shall not dwell in this exam hall forever!

Haaaayyyy... PT Time...
The tests are NOSEBLEED!

Semestral Break: It's Now or Never?

Saturday; October 25, 2008

This is the first day going to the Semestral Break: A "Much Awaited Short Vacation" of the Students. Well, this past few days, I really need a lot of rest.... Hello? I'm so tired of everything... Our Intramurals 2008 just ended, followed by the District Meet which was held at our school and so on and so forth... This day I just rest but first we had our garderning (as usual!). After pulling the grasses in our garden, my housemates and I decided to REST AND EAT OUR MERIENDA... Hmmm... Yummy! Others were history!

Sunday; October 26, 2008

Second day of vacation? Yeah I think so... Well, it's just the same as the ordinary Sundays in my life... The only difference is we watched TV this Sunday (which is one of the rareliest thing to do). It's because our staff is not there and Ate Dory allowed us to watched I'm really very happy cause we used to watched only every Friday night and it is limited only. I also read books that interest me. I'm not thinking of school cause I want to enjoy. I watched up to sawa as in until the end of the programs in TV like Experience GMA; The Ghost Ship and The Reign of Fire. Haay!..

Monday; October 27, 2008

This is really the beginning of the Semestral Break and I think as the goes by I am enjoying it. Waking up late and doing a little things without worries makes me happy. How I wish it's always Sembreak... I'm loving it! This day we had our laundrying or washing of our clothes. I washed my clothes but not my uniform... (it's because we will not watch TV if we didn't do so...) We also had our meeting; Children's Council Meeting. We talked about our Fun Night for Friday evening... That is so exciting! we talked about our plans... I, being the vice president of the council should suggest and suggest which is very helpful in the planning... We end up dividing our tasks to each other... i'm very tired and exhausted... When I got home, I took a bath and eat and had our devotion and watched... It's a very tiring but happy day!

This day we are informed about the seminar on Character Building fo tomorrow until Friday! When I heard of it, I thought it's boring... imagine, we will have the seminar with the staffs and elders... It's like I don't want to attend anymore. Well, this day our housemother came back from 3-day leave, I think I will not be happy again... I like Ate Dory to be our staff... But that's life and I shoud face it... When she came back, as usual she got angry on me again(always?)... I'm the leader that day and I forgot my responsibility and besides we didn't know that we should plant the red plants at the "palibot" of the mango tree... We're thinking that the boys will put cement on that place... We didn't hear her said that the boys will not put cement on it so, she end up angry of us and saying things that I don't want to hear.... Haay.... Patience is badly needed! At night, 4 people came by and introduced as the resource person in the Character Building for tomorrow... We're not yet cleaning the Moriah, guest house, so we rushed to the place and clean as fast as we could... The boys, I mean guys are cute:)

Wednesday; October 29, 2008

It's the first day of our Character Building Seminar and it's all about giving facts and introductions; how is it made, who are the persons involved and many more. The 4 people named Ate Trisha, Kuya Johnny, Kuya Euclides and Kuya Kenneth are the character coaches. Ate Trisha is their head. First day is a little boring and somewhat factual... They are just giving us facts... Well, will I enjoy this seminar... I envy my classmates whose having trips anywhere they want to. Others are even having swimming, a trip to Star City and overnight to other classmates. But that's alright, I already knew right from the start that I will not be allowed and will NEVER been allowed to do such things... How dramatic! Well, we had a wonderful snack today! I love it! It all started in Registration. Then we had our Opening Program and the introduction of the participants. After that, Ate Juliet, one of the social worker in CMSP had the House Rules & Expectations Setting. At 10:45 A.M., Ate Tricia gave the CBP or Character Buiding Program-- It's Beginnings. It was followed by the CBP DSWD Guidelines. then we had our lunch break for only one hour... We don't have time to rest... I'm so sleepy!+_+ After lunch and a very short sleep, Ate Tricia had the Self- Awareness Session and the The Need For Character... After a while Kuya Euclides finally spoke and discussed about Building Character With Praise. Then at 3:30 P.M, Kuya Johnny discussed about the Character- Based Correction. He is so cool. He made us laugh eventhough it's kind of boring. I'm laughing and laughing while he is discussing. I just realized that I will enjoy this seminar. At night, we practiced for our talent in our Fun Night.... What a busy and tiring day!

Thursday, October 30, 2008

Second day of the seminar, huh? Well, I was kind of excited today cause they said that this day will be an interesting and exciting day cause there's no more discussion of facts like yesterday.... I'm so happy about it! We woke up at 6:30 in the mornig and we had our devotion. Then we cleaned our areas and we ate our breakfast. After that, I decided to take a bath... At 8:00, the buzzer rang and we are told to finally go to the Zion Hall... First thing to do there is to sign on the attendance... Hmmm... After that, Kuya Euclides had his testimony. I found out that he came from a broken family like me... He works hard and you know? He already have been to US for a seminar in Character Building... How lucky! Then, it was followed by the testimony of Kuya Kenneth who had a more tragic life than Kuya Euclides had. He was put to jail when he was 14 years old in the sin that he did not do... I'm touched with his story... Next testimony was heard from Kuya Johnny and had a tragic life... You know? He don't know his family. His family left him to someone and that someone turned out to be brutal to him.... He decided to leave and then a good- hearted person found him and brought him to DSWD. He was named Jonathan Santos there (that time he doesn't even know his name and age) and said to be five years old... It was November 3 then, so they decided that his birthday wil be the same date when he was brought to DSWD. Inspite of his story, he didn't loose hope but truly believe in God... I admire him for that braveness that he showed... Mabuhay ka Kuya Johnny!

After the testimonies, Ate Tricia discussed about Public Speaking. Then Kuya Euclides taught us the Memorization and Story telling Technique. He is so good in acting.... Then, at 11:00 AM, Kuya Johnny had the first Character Building Session Demonstration. Lunch Break followed after that. In the afternoon, we just have the continuation of the demonstration... They taught us new songs, memory works and definitions of the character qualities. At the end, they grouped us into 4 and they assigned different character qualities to be the return demonstration of the participants. We just practiced until 5:00.

Then at night, the Children's Council was called in the kitchen to help in preparing for the food on Friday for the Fun Night... I'm so tired upon finishing working on Tinapa for the Malabon...

Friday, October 31, 2008

It's the last day of our seminar. I don't know why but I don't want the sminar to end. I realized that I will miss them. Last night, I wrote letters to all of them and I told them what I feel. I hope that this seminar will be repeated... When I arrived at the Zion Hall, we are having the joyful singing. After that is the demonstration of the Character qualities. In our group the assigned topic to be discussed is Obedience. I am assigned to teach the Memory Work in our group. The others are Orderliness, Gratefulness and Self- Control. The first two discussant, Orderliness and Gratefulness group is very funny. You can really see the talents of those people who are shy before. I'm laughing and laughing... Thank God our topic is a success!

At the afternoon, we had the Center Plan Of Action. We planned for the next step in learning of the Character qualities. We should share our knowledge to the little ones and be a good example to them. At 3:00, we had the Closing Program and the facilitators gave us Certificates and Acknowledgement for those Character Qualities that we possess. I was awarded for Diligence. After that we had merienda together and they left... huhuhu+_+

After that, life's not over yet... Children's Council still have responsibility to do. We decided to clean the Zion Hall, where the Fun Night will be held. Lovely and I mopped the floor after we swept it. Then we helped in decorating the multi by helping putting the "baging" on the wall. The theme of our fun night is "Journey To Future Success", and guess what? I'm one of the Emcee. Yahoo! We had a parade inside the CMSP Compound first with our lights, Torch! I enjoyed being the Emcee of the program. But something happened: one of the children there, while having the Obstacle race did not notice a "tali" on her way. She is "napatid" and you know? she lost her tooth and "napingas ang kanyang labi"! She is so pitiful. As usual, the obstacle race has ended and we all decided to go home already because of what happened. All of us are sad about that. But that's because of her hardheadedness. Another lesson was learned from this experience!

Haaay... What a busy sembreak I had... The days are so fast that I did not even notice that it's already back to school time on Monday! All I can say is I had a busy and tiring Semestral Break. But when will this rest be pursued? Next week will be our PT days... Is it NOW or NEVER?
